YOGA doesn’t need too much introduction I guess, most if not all having interest would understand that Yoga, in spiritual term, means union of the individual consciousness with the universal consciousness. Whew! sounds too deep? Well, on a more practical level, Yoga simply means “oneness”. It is a practice of achieving oneness, balance and harmony in the body, mind and emotions. This is done through the practice of asana, pranayama, mudra, bandha, shatkarma and meditation.
For ease of association, let me draw this out for you. The science of yoga begins to work on your outermost part, which you are familiar with, your physical body. Thats the starting point. When imbalance is experienced at this level, the organs, nerves, hormones no longer function in harmony rather they act in opposition to each other. Let’s say the endocrine system might become irregular and the efficiency of the nervous system decrease to such an extent that a disease will manifest. Yoga aims at bringing bodily functions into perfect coordination so that they work for the good of the whole body.
In todays time, Yoga’s most important achievements are physical and mental cleansing and strengthening. According to medical scientists, yoga therapy is successful because of the balance created in the nervous and endocrine systems which directly influence the other systems and organs of the body.

Yoga is for everyone, Young and old, healthy or not. An hour of Yoga will include performing asanas. These body movements remove physical discomfort accumulated during the days, it provides relaxation techniques. Asanas open energy channels and psychic enters. When you get control of these, you can easily control your mind and energy. Will also do Pranayama or movements directed to breath control which are known to reduce stress, relieve anxiety and depression.
